Broad Channel, NY - NOVEMBER 04: The burnt remnants seen here of the only fire truck of the Broad Channel volunteer fire department was lost during a rescue operation when super storm Sandy hit the area on November 4, 2012 in Broad Channel, Queens. Many metal parts on the truck were stripped by thieves when residents and volunteers left the area during the mandatory evacuation of low lying areas when the storm first hit. Superstorm Sandy, which has left millions without power or water, continues to affect business and daily life throughout much of the eastern seaboard. (Photo by Mark Von Holden)
